We all need a helping hand from time to time. As members of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 286, you are eligible for assistance through our Member Assistance Program (MAP). This program provides members and retirees who qualify for assistance with dues or economic loss incurred resulting from an unforeseen event.
Applicant must be a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 286 for a minimum of one (1) year.
Applicant must be a member in good standing with all dues and any fines or assessments paid in full as of the date of their application.
Members are eligible for one claim within a rolling twelve (12) month period in the amount of up to five hundred dollars ($500.00).
Applications for assistance must be made in writing, within thirty (30) days of the qualifying event, using the form provided.
Applications for assistance and must be delivered to either the Business Manager, Assistant Business Manager, President, or Vice President and are subject to approval by the MAP Committee Members.
Special consideration shall be given to members who are unable to work due to illness, injury, strike or lockout.
Recipients of financial assistance are responsible for any tax liability which may result from receipt of financial assistance from the Member Assistance Program.
Out of Work Hardship
Members may be eligible for assistance if they are out of work due to job loss, provided however, they have already exhausted all other means of income support, such as unemployment compensation. Out of Work Hardship assistance is subject to approval by the MAP Committee Members.
Members may be eligible for assistance in order to help defray the costs associated with becoming the victim of a disaster which displaces them from their home. Disaster Relief assistance is subject to approval by the MAP Committee Members.
Members may be eligible for assistance in cases where a financial hardship is caused by an injury, illness, or death of an immediate family member. Members must provide evidence of their financial hardship. Qualifying members may receive up to five hundred ($500.00) dollars. Hardship Relief assistance is subject to approval by the MAP Committee Members.
